Everyone who wishes to work in
Research and Development (R&D) at VALBHS must have a paid or without
compensation (WOC) appointment at the VALBHS. If you already have an
appointment in another Service at the VALBHS outside of R&D, no
other appointment is needed. You only need to complete certain forms
specific to Research.
Credentialing and Privileging of
Research Staff
Credentialing is the verification of
education and experience of an employee. The credentialing process
must be fully completed prior to working on approved research
projects. For more information regarding credentialing, please read
R&D's policy Credentialing of Personnel
Involved in Research
If an applicant has a license,
certification, or registration OR a degree that makes them eligible
to be licensed, certified or registered, the applicant will need to
be credentialed by the VALBHS through VetPro.
If an applicant's position requires
them to use their license, certification or registration to perform
their job duties, privileges must be granted in accordance with the
facility's Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules and Regulations prior to
performing the interventions covered under the privileges to be
granted.
A Without Compensation (WOC)
Appointment is required for anyone who does not have a Long Beach VA
Medical Center paid appointment, e.g., is paid by Southern
California Institute for Research and Education (SCIRE) and
you do not need a research WOC
appointment if
